This time, Ranjith uses Rajinikanth the megastar to tell his message — land is the common man’s right. The story is very simple… shift from Tamil Nadu settle in Dharavi and help construct it, and run the city. When an ugly politician-cum-land mafia don sets his eyes on their land, they revolt. Do they succeed?

Kaala movie starts with an animated story-telling resource similar to Bahubali, wherein the importance of land and the compression of the downtrodden by the power-hungry are shown.  Ugly politicians and land mafia project plans to destroy the slums of Dharavi to make it Digital Dharavi and Pure Mumbai. We get an introduction to the Rajinikanth, as Kaala.  However, the speed picks up when it is established that he is the King of Dharavi and no one compete with him. The love path between Zareena ( Huma Qureshi) and Kaala initially appear to go the Kabali-Kumudavalli track, but Ranjith is quick to obtain his foolishness and sets up a beautiful dinner scene presenting the ex-lovers, where Kaala clarifies his priorities.

The pre-interval part has a typical masala stunt sequence that is performed on a Mumbai flyover. This scene reminds you past of the Rajinikanth. Sparks is starting when the opponent Hari Dada (Nana Patekar) enters the scene. The interval scene is a scream.

After an interval, hari dada seeking revenge and depriving Kaala of his loved ones. Kaala asks his people to utilize their body as a weapon — telling his people to close Mumbai down by going on a strike as the slum resident in effect run the city as cab drivers, district staff, and hospital staff and so on. Mumbai arrives a halt. Hari Dada looks for revenge.

Ranjith gives a spin to the classic white-is-pure-and-black-is-evil logic. Here, Ram is bad and Ravan is good. Watch out for the confrontation scenes between Nana Patekar and Rajinikanth. They are total paisa vasool. Hearing Rajini speaks in Hindi and Marathi at times will be a delight for his fans.

Ranjith gives a turn to the great white-is-pure and-dark is-destructive logic. Here, Ram is terrible and Ravan is great. Watch out for the showdown scenes between Nana Patekar and Rajinikanth. They are adding up to paisa vasool. Hearing Rajini talks in Hindi and Marathi now and again will be a pleasure for his fans.

Unique mention should go to Easwari Rao (as Kaala’s better half, Selvi) and Anjali Patil (as Puyal, the sweetheart of one of Kaala’s children). The title song is very popular, where Ranjith impress his excellence as a writer and director, carefully deliver willingness of Rajinikanth fans. This would be recognized as a kick out the performance of a Rajinikanth’s Kaala movie.
